Bradstock caught in the act by Google
Javelin thrower captured on Google street view
Olympian and former world record-holder Roald Bradstock’s javelin has been caught mid-flight on Google Street View.
While Bradstock was training earlier this spring, he was unaware that Google’s vehicle was passing nearby, taking pictures of the area for their Street View service.
But months later, while looking at Google’s map of the Cheney Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, Bradstock noticed that he had been captured in the street views. First he saw his car parked outside the stadium, then he saw an image of himself carrying javelins across the throwing field.
Upon further inspection, the 1984 and 1988 Olympian – who is in training for the 2012 UK Olympic Trials – saw that one of his javelins had been caught mid-air. Click here for the link to the Google Street View image.
Athletics Weekly is now interested to see if any other athletes have been caught by Google Street View. Start looking up your local training venue or your training run routes, and if you spot yourself then get in touch.
